Electronic Information

Electronic information is becoming widespread. Technology has become cheaper and easier to use, and many people now have access to computers and the Internet.

The most common electronic communications are briefly described here. More detailed information can be found by using the links below.

  • Email (Electronic mail) is a fast and cheap means of communication ideally suited for community groups.
  • News Groups, discussion groups and bulletin boards are all Internet forums for exchanging information. They are often topic based and there are many health and community action groups.
  • Websites exist for a huge variety of topics. There is no regulation of the World Wide Web thus it is possible to find both useful and unreliable, incorrect or offensive information. Web searching is a skill in itself. This site provides more information on searching.
