Internet Searches

Searching for specific information on the Internet can be a time consuming and frustrating exercise. Information is not organised into any kind of system, and much of it is inaccurate, unsupported or inappropriate.

To find useful information on the Internet you will need to use some strategies.

  • Use a good search engine
  • Use specific terms, names and/or keywords
  • Brainstorm alternative keywords and phrases
  • Enclose multi-word terms, names and keywords in inverted commas
  • Use advanced search techniques - check the search engine site for how to use
