What will assist application for funds?

Each funding body provides funding according to particular criteria so it is important to do some research when you are looking for funding, and match the goals of your project with the criteria set out by the funding body.

Some guidelines for writing funding applications

Check eligibility guidelines Check the previous projects that have received funding from the funding source, read the guidelines and criteria very carefully.
Gather community support Many grant programs ask you to demonstrate community support, this will show the funding body that the project will make a difference in your community
Show evidence of planning Explain the aims of the project, the outcomes and the reasons why it is a necessary project for your community. Most funding grants are fiercely competitive and assessors will be reading many application forms. Keep it accurate, clear, succinct and keep to the selection criteria (Improving Project Planning and Practices)
Write clearly You will not have much space to write so be brief and to the point. Use layman's terms and assume nothing.
Know the closing date Late submissions will not be accepted
Contact the funding body Most programs have a contact person/officer who can provide advice to applicants. They will be able to help you present the best case possible to attract funding. If you are unsure as to what a question means on the funding application, contact them and find out.
Provide an accurate budget This shows that you have planned accurately (budget link)
Include supporting information Letters of support, quotes, certificate of incorporation for example
