Theme 3 - Teams
What sort of group structure will suit us?
When interested individuals come together to work on a community problem or project, they need to consider how formal or informal their group needs to be.
Informal groups are appropriate when:
- A casual group of friends or communities of interest gets together
- Fewer than five people make up the group
- Activities are small, occasional or very short-term
- Activities are unlikely to involve the public
Formal groups are appropriate when:
- The group has five or more members who are not that well known to each other
- Activities are long-term or are for large events
- Activities are likely to involve the public
- The group will need to raise funds to undertake activities
