Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM), Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH)

In the south of the state, Stand Upright – Stay Upright! targeted medical, other health professionals and clerical staff in DEM at the Royal Hobart Hospital, and GPs through the Southern Division of General Practice. It focussed on developing an appropriate falls screening system that triggered referral by using automatic prompts from Injury Surveillance data held in the Emergency Department Information System. It also focussed on identifying high risk fallers, who presented to DEM but were not admitted, with the aim of improving the interface between the hospital and the primary health care sector.
