How can I be involved?

If you would like to find out more about the project, or be involved in the range of activities that will be offered in the Pilot Sites over the life of the project, please contact your local project site manager. Their details are on the Project Contact Page of this website.

The project will also be working with local consumers and service providers to identify needs and implement other activities/ training in the pilot sites.

So if you have a great idea or have seen something elsewhere that you feel would be of interest to the project, please let us know!

The range of activities that are on offer through the 'Whose health is it anyway?' Project will include such activities as:

For people living with a chronic condition (and their families/ carers)

Self-management programs/ seminars

  • The "Get The Most Out Of Life" program
  • Web based and media information: How to tell what's true!
  • Care plans/ symptom action plans and other tools to keep you on track
  • Understanding medications

Practical sessions

  • Exercise groups
  • Modified Tai chi (through Arthritis Tasmania)
  • Cooking sessions
  • Supermarket tours
  • Living Longer/ Living Stronger (through Council on the Ageing)
  • Challenging Ageing Through Council on the Ageing)

Educational Opportunities

  • Leader training in the 'Get the Most Out of Life' program
  • Consumer representation in your Community

For GP's and practice staff

Educational Opportunities:

  • Partners in Health self management assessment tools and techniques with Flinders University Coordinated Care Training Unit
  • Academic detailing on the evidence base for Self Management Approaches
  • Practice Organisation for clients with chronic and complex care needs
  • Self Management: Evidence based practice

For Health and Community Workers
