Allied Health Undergraduate Student Support Program

The University Department of Rural Health encourages undergraduate allied health students studying interstate to undertake their rural placements
in Tasmania by providing support consisting of one or more of the following:
- Accommodation at one of the UDRH Rural Health Teaching Sites (RHTS);
- Computer and internet access at the RHTS;
- Assistance with locating a placement; and
- Travel/Accommodation allowance of up to $200.00
Disciplines include:
- Audiology
- Dietetics
- Hospital Pharmacy
- Occupational Therapy
- Optometry
- Orthoptics

- Orthotics/Prosthetics Psychology
- Physiotherapy
- Podiatry
- Radiology
- Social Work
- Speech pathology

Interstate students will need to provide evidence of enrolment in an allied health discipline.
Tasmanian students who undertake a placment in their home communities are not eligible for assistance.
Applications for Hobart based placements will need to show that the placement includes a rural component of at least a week.
All students are required to complete an evaluation form at the end of their placement in order to receive a travel/accommodation allowance.
